The vibrant and highly cerebral of Odimodi in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, is set to host a monumental event celebrating academic excellence, a Grand Reception in honour of five distinguished professors who have made remarkable contributions to their fields. Organized under the leadership of Hon. Dennis Yeinbri Bibaikefie, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the event aims to inspire a culture of education and excellence within and outside the shore community.
The grand reception will take place on December 28, 2024, at Odimodi Town, featuring a series of activities and tributes to the honorees.
The celebration will spotlight five renowned scholars:
1. Prof. Christopher Ogolo Ikporukpo (rtd): Esteemed Professor of Geography, former Vice-Chancellor of Niger Delta University, and Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Geographers (F.A.N.G).
2. Prof. Emeritus Richard Ogoja Angyama (late): A celebrated Professor of Mathematics from the University of East London.
3. Prof. Henchard B. Erezene: Acclaimed Professor of African History at Niger Delta University.
4. Prof. Jude I. Ikporukpo: A distinguished Professor of Political Science at Niger Delta University.
5. Prof. Bryan L. Gere: Associate Professor of Vocational Rehabilitation and Training at the University of Maryland Eastern Shores, USA.

The event boasts an impressive lineup of dignitaries. Chief Dr. Takeme, the Miracle Chairman of Burutu LGA, will chair the occasion, while Madam Beauty Warezuwowei, former Legislative Aide to the Deputy Senate President, will serve as chairlady.
The father of the day is Professor Benjamin Ogele Okaba, President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), while HRM. Pere Bosu Dio JP., Ayamabulou-1, the Ibenanawei of Iduwini Kingdom, will be the Royal Father of the day.

A quiz competition to engage and inspire students, cultural performances, including masquerade displays and dances will interlude the citation of Biographies of the honorees, detailing their academic journeys and contributions.

The celebration will culminate in goodwill messages, closing prayers, before switching over to an evening session of music and dance.

The emergence of Chief (Amb.) Sheriff Mulade as National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has been described as a strong endorsement of accountability and reform within the apex Ijaw socio-cultural body.
Reacting to the outcome of the April 13, 2026 national elections, the Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF) said Mulade’s victory reflects the trust reposed in him by delegates across the region, citing his long-standing advocacy for peace, environmental justice, and good governance.
In a statement issued by its President, Comrade Ozobo Austin, the forum noted that the election outcome demonstrates a collective desire among Ijaw stakeholders for transparent financial leadership at a time when the INC is expected to reposition itself for greater impact.

YENAGOA — The Ijaw Publishers’ Forum (IPF) has congratulated High Chief Barr. MacDonald Ebi Igbadiwei on his emergence as President-elect of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) following the April 13, 2026 election held at Ijaw House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
In a statement released on Monday, the National President of IPF, Ozobo Austin, described Igbadiwei’s victory as a significant turning point for the Ijaw nation, noting that the outcome reflects the collective will and aspirations of the people.
