Odimodi to Honour Academic Gladiators with a Grand Reception December 28

The vibrant and highly cerebral of Odimodi in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, is set to host a monumental event celebrating academic excellence, a Grand Reception in honour of five distinguished professors who have made remarkable contributions to their fields. Organized under the leadership of Hon. Dennis Yeinbri Bibaikefie, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the event aims to inspire a culture of education and excellence within and outside the shore community.

The grand reception will take place on December 28, 2024, at Odimodi Town, featuring a series of activities and tributes to the honorees.

The celebration will spotlight five renowned scholars:

1. Prof. Christopher Ogolo Ikporukpo (rtd): Esteemed Professor of Geography, former Vice-Chancellor of Niger Delta University, and Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Geographers (F.A.N.G).

2. Prof. Emeritus Richard Ogoja Angyama (late): A celebrated Professor of Mathematics from the University of East London.

3. Prof. Henchard B. Erezene: Acclaimed Professor of African History at Niger Delta University.

4. Prof. Jude I. Ikporukpo: A distinguished Professor of Political Science at Niger Delta University.

5. Prof. Bryan L. Gere: Associate Professor of Vocational Rehabilitation and Training at the University of Maryland Eastern Shores, USA.

Array of Dignitaries

The event boasts an impressive lineup of dignitaries. Chief Dr. Takeme, the Miracle Chairman of Burutu LGA, will chair the occasion, while Madam Beauty Warezuwowei, former Legislative Aide to the Deputy Senate President, will serve as chairlady.

The father of the day is Professor Benjamin Ogele Okaba, President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), while HRM. Pere Bosu Dio JP., Ayamabulou-1, the Ibenanawei of Iduwini Kingdom, will be the Royal Father of the day.

The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. Benedict Binebai of Niger Delta University, emphasizing the transformative power of education and the contributions of the 5 Odimodi super stars.

Special Guests of Honour

The occasion will be graced by several high-profile individuals, including:
Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Rt. Hon. Frank Enekorogha, Former Member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Momotimi Guwor, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, High Chief Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, Presidential Amnesty Administrator, Other notable guests include Hon. Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo, Chief Ebikeme Clark, Dr. Fred Mulade, and Double Chief Combolous Ikisa, among others.

Activities and Schedule

The day will begin with traditional wrestling (Ogele) at 7 a.m., followed by a novelty football match at 9 a.m. and a traditional Ogele dance at noon, heralding the arrival of the celebrants and guests.

Others include a Keynote Address address by Prof. Benedict Binebai, Professor of African Literature, Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State.

A quiz competition to engage and inspire students, cultural performances, including masquerade displays and dances will interlude the citation of Biographies of the honorees, detailing their academic journeys and contributions.

Presentation of portraits and plaques to the honorees.
The celebration will culminate in goodwill messages, closing prayers, before switching over to an evening session of music and dance.

The planned event promises to be a Celebration of Legacy and Inspiration, affording Odimodi people the opportunity to celebrate Academic Excellence, an event that marks more than just a recognition of achievements; it is a testament to the community’s commitment to education as a tool for progress. As Hon. Dennis Yeinbri Bibaikefie stated, “This event is a source of inspiration for the youth of Odimodi and other communities, and a call to prioritize education for the betterment of our society.” This grand occasion underscores Odimodi’s pride in its intellectual heritage and its dedication to fostering a brighter future.

SMEs Empowerment: Tompolo Foundation, Tantita & PEB ICT Granduates Lead Branding Drive in Warri

Aimed at boost small-scale entrepreneurship in Warri, beneficiaries of the Tompolo Foundation and Tantita Security Services—trained by PEB ICT Services—have officially launched a branding awareness campaign aimed at transforming small businesses in Warri.

This initiative follows the successful completion of a three-month intensive training in Graphic Design, where participants were equipped with essential skills in branding, visual communication, and marketing design. Culminating in a high-impact presentation, the campaign is themed: “Building Strong Brand Identity for Small Business Growth.”

The campaign emphasizes six strategic pillars for business branding success:

Defining brand purpose

Understanding the target audience

Creating a unique visual identity

Developing a consistent brand voice

Maintaining a strong digital presence

Building trust through quality and engagement

Speaking during the launch event, team spokesperson ThankGod Ugedi noted, “We are not just leaving with certificates — we are stepping out with a mission. Our group is dedicated to supporting local entrepreneurs in Warri with brand identity consultations and awareness strategies that can help them grow and compete.”

The newly trained Graphic Design team extended their heartfelt appreciation to the Tompolo Foundation, Tantita Security Services, and PEB ICT Services, with special acknowledgment to Dr. Paul Bebenimibo and Major Moses for their mentorship and visionary leadership throughout the program.

This campaign marks the beginning of a youth-led movement to reignite business growth in Warri. With branding as their tool and innovation as their drive, these young creatives are positioning themselves as catalysts for economic development in the region.

Burutu LGA Chairman Hails Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at 62, Celebrates His Visionary Leadership and Impactful Governance

  • Burutu _ The Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, Hon.Chief Dr. Julius Takeme, has extended warm felicitations to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, on the occasion of his 62nd birthday anniversary.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, Dr. Takeme described the Governor as “a beacon of visionary leadership, humility, and progressive governance whose transformational strides continue to rekindle the hope of Deltans across all strata.”

The council chairman lauded Governor Oborevwori for his unwavering commitment to the implementation of the Renewed hope of the M.O.R.E Agenda which stands for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security , which, according to him, has not only reshaped the development landscape of Delta State but has also brought hope and tangible growth to Burutu Local Government and its people.

“At 62, His Excellency stands tall as a statesman with a heart for service, whose administration has delivered impactful projects in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment,” Dr. Takeme stated. “Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has redefined governance in Delta State, bringing government closer to the grassroots and fostering inclusive development.”

The council chairman, particularly commended the Governor for his inclusive style of leadership and his listening ear, noting that the people of Burutu LGA have been key beneficiaries of the Governor’s developmental vision and people-centered policies.
