IduwiniVoice can be authoritative that a copy of the said communique, addressed to the Board Chairman, was made available by Comrade Tarede Austin Ebiarede, the President of Odimodi Youth Movement (OYM).
The statement which opened with a congratulatory message to newly appointed Chairman of the Committee, Chief Boro Oputu and his board members, argued that, Odimodi and indeed all Delta Riverine Communities have played very critical roles in safeguarding oil facilities and the waterways within and outside their domain, the reason violence, robbery, piracy, kidnapping, and other forms security issues have been successfully tamed in their respective territories.
They further argued that, if it takes youths to perpetuate crime and violence, it also takes youths to stamp same out of society.
Therefore, involving the Youth Leaders of the various communities is very key in sustaining the peace, stability and revenue that the state currently enjoy, as an all inclusive governance can never get things wrong.
They therefore call on Chief Boro Oputu and of course Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, expand the scope of the Delta Waterways and Land Security Committee engagement to include Youth Presidents from from across all riverine communities, in order enable them continue their good work in collaborating with other relevant stakeholders to keep the much needed peace that keeps Delta State as the highest earner of Oil Revenue in Nigeria.
