High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, affectionately known as Tompolo, is a man of extraordinary dimensions. Born into the mortal realm in the traditional Gbaramatu Kingdom of Okerenkoko, Delta State, he has traversed a path that blends mystique with statesmanship.
Tompolo’s life is a testament to his multifaceted personality – a human with a deep affinity for the spiritual universe, a revered cultural icon, and a spiritual leader. As the chief priest of many deities, which embody truth, fairness, and equity, he has been a guiding force in the Ijaw nation. His journey from a young militant fighting for the emancipation of Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta to a respected leader and businessman is nothing short of remarkable.
As a nationalist and patriot, Tompolo’s love for his country and people knows no bounds. His leadership has been marked by a commitment to justice, peace, and the welfare of his people. While patriotism is about loving one’s country, nationalism can sometimes take on a more complex form, emphasising the superiority of one’s nation. However, in Tompolo’s case, his actions have shown that being a nationalist can also mean working tirelessly for the betterment of one’s community ¹.

Delta captain of industry, politician, and businessman, Hon. Amb. Tom Ebiakpo Willy has described High Chief Godfrey Tare Pondi as the true “King of the youth”. This is coming on the heels of Pondi’s birthday anniversary celebrations.
