Otuaro was Present as 98 Amnesty Delegates Graduate in Marine Engineering

Warri — The Presidential Amnesty Programme has successfully trained 98 delegates in a refresher bootcamp on marine engineering at the Joemarine Institute of Nautical Studies and Research, located in Otomewo Community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

The graduation ceremony, held on Tuesday, was attended by prominent figures, including Hon. Amafini Akemotubo, representing the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor; His Royal Majesty Pere Luke Kalanama VIII, the Pere of Akugbene Mein Kingdom; His Royal Majesty, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom; Capt. Warredi Enisuoh, CEO/MD of South Side International Resources; Amb. Princewill Binebai, the National Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC); and Pastor Anthony Burutu, among other key stakeholders from the Niger Delta region.

Addressing the graduates, Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, the administrator of the Amnesty Programme, commended the participants for their exceptional performance and discipline during the training. He emphasized that the program is designed to develop manpower and human resources in the Niger Delta, urging the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Dr. Otuaro described the graduates as peace ambassadors of the Niger Delta and highlighted their significant role in the program’s achievements for 2024. He also announced plans to focus on vocational training for women in the Niger Delta, with a shift towards scholarships for formal education, including degree, master’s, and PhD programs, beginning in 2025.

He encouraged the graduates to represent the Niger Delta and Nigeria positively, stressing the global importance of their contributions to solving challenges in the maritime sector.

The Managing Director of Joemarine Institute, Engr. Kenneth Akpoebi Epidei, expressed gratitude to the Amnesty Programme for trusting the institute to handle the refresher training. He noted the success of the program and congratulated the graduating delegates.

In his closing remarks, HRM Pere Luke Kalanama VIII, Chairman of the Institute’s Governing Council, praised Dr. Otuaro’s commitment to continuity in the Amnesty Programme. He urged the graduates to make the most of the skills they had acquired and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr. Otuaro, ensuring the program stays true to its original objectives.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates to the graduates by Dr. Otuaro, followed by a vote of confidence delivered by one of the delegates, Mr. Ebi Jackson, who commended Dr. Otuaro’s leadership in reviving the program and restoring it to the Niger Delta’s communities.

Negerese to Chair Tantita Amatu Unit Grand End-of-Year Celebration on Dec. 29

Amatu-1&2 communities in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State will come alive on December 29, 2025, as top entertainer Chief Kingsley A. Takemebo (DJ Leader Marrow) headlines the Amatu Unit end-of-year party organised by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.

The event, according to the programme sighted by Iduwini Ibe Reporters, will be coordinated by Comrade Ebi O. Rames, former Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Iduwini Clan Central Zone, who chairs the Planning Committee.

Renowned Niger Delta philanthropist Chief (Hon.) Berry Negerese will serve as Chairman of the Occasion, while the Royal Fathers of the Day are HRH Dr. Decca E. Keredei, Amananawei of Amatu 1 Community, and HRH Eric Ebifiegbenne, representing Amatu 2 Community as Special Guest of Honour.

The celebration will feature rich side attractions, including inter-quarters canoe races, female football clashes-Agge vs. Ezetu and Ogbotobo vs. Ekeremor-and cultural dance competitions for both male and female groups. Chief hosts of the occasion are the Amatu Unit coordinators of Tantita, Mr. Man Job and Mr. Firstboy Job.

This is coming in the wake of many other events to mark the yuletide as Amatu will also play host National Union of Ekeremor Local Government Students Worldwide (NUES) holds its 22nd Annual Elective Convention from December 28-30, 2025, themed “Empowering Minds Through Education, Shaping the Future.”

Organisers are using this medium to invite the general public to join both celebrations, with activities peaking on December 29.
