Stakeholders Hail Tompolo, Tantita, Otuaro as Nigeria Hits 1.8 Million Barrels Daily Oil Production

By Favour Bibaikefie
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a milestone of 1.8 million barrels per day in crude oil production, drawing widespread commendation from industry stakeholders. The achievement is being attributed, in part, to the collaborative efforts of Tantita Security Services, which has played a critical role in safeguarding the country’s oil infrastructure.
This surge in production marks a significant recovery for Nigeria’s oil sector, which has faced numerous challenges, including crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism. Stakeholders have highlighted the contributions of Tantita Security Services, a private security outfit, for its effectiveness in curbing illegal activities within the Oil producing Niger Delta region, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and boosting output.
Industry experts have praised the NNPCL for its strategic approach to tackling oil theft and restoring production levels. “This milestone is a reflection of coordinated efforts by the NNPCL and its partners to address long-standing issues that have hampered the nation’s oil sector,” one expert noted.
Tantita Security Services, led by former Niger Delta War Lord High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has been credited with proactive monitoring and intervention measures. Their work in securing pipelines and deterring sabotage has helped stabilize production, earning accolades from both government and private sector players.
However, others have applauded the consolidatory efforts of Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro PhD.led PAP Office in maintaining the existing peace in the Niger Delta. Otuaro who has since embarked upon a vigorous stakeholders engagement campaign since assuming office earlier this year is touted for demonstrating great understanding of the plight of both the Amnesty delegates and the Niger Delta developmental deficit.
The increase in crude oil production comes at a crucial time for Nigeria, as the country seeks to strengthen its revenue base amid fluctuating global oil prices. With oil being a primary source of national income, the improved production levels are expected to have a positive impact on the economy.
Stakeholders have called for sustained collaboration between the NNPCL, security agencies, and local communities to ensure continued progress. Many believe that leveraging community-based security solutions like Tantita’s can serve as a model for addressing broader issues in Nigeria’s energy sector, and the developmental issues perculiar to the Niger Delta Swamps.
As the nation celebrates this milestone, the focus remains on maintaining and building upon these gains to secure Nigeria’s position as a leading oil producer in Africa.
