Breaking: Agbedi’s Bill for the Creation of Federal College of Education, Aghoro Scales Nigerian Senate

By Divine Perezide – IduwiniVoice
Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Senate has passed the Federal Colleges of Education (Amendment) Bill, 2025, providing for the establishment of a Federal College of Education (Technical) in Aghoro, Bayelsa State—bringing to fruition a legislative effort that has spanned multiple Assemblies.
The bill was first sponsored by Distinguished Senator Foster Ogola during the 8th National Assembly. It was passed in the House of Representatives in the final days of that Assembly, thanks to the efforts of Hon. Fred Agbedi, but failed to receive Presidential assent before the Assembly’s tenure ended.
Determined to see the institution established, Hon. Agbedi—now a member of the 10th Assembly representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency and serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties—reintroduced the bill in the House of Representatives in 2024. The House passed the bill in late 2024, paving the way for its final passage in the Senate.
Working in close collaboration with Senator Ogola and supportive colleagues across both chambers, Agbedi’s persistence has now culminated in full legislative approval.
The Bill, formally titled “A Bill for an Act to Amend the Federal Colleges of Education Act, Cap F8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004”, was read a second time in the Senate, debated, and committed to the Committee of the Whole for detailed consideration.
Key Provisions of the Bill:
Clause 1 amends the principal Act to incorporate the new institution into the framework of existing Federal Colleges of Education.
Clause 2 updates the First Schedule of the Act by inserting:
“(z) Federal College of Education (Technical), Aghoro, Bayelsa State.”
Clause 3 provides for the citation: Federal Colleges of Education (Amendment) Act, 2025.
After an in-depth review, the Senate adopted all clauses and passed the Bill during its third reading.
The establishment of the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Aghoro is poised to significantly enhance opportunities for technical teacher training in the region. It aims to foster educational growth and meet the rising demand for skilled professionals in Bayelsa State and beyond.
The Bill is now set to receive presidential assent to become official law, marking a promising development for education in Nigeria.

BREAKING: Is Buhari Dead? Here’s What We Know

By Favour Bibaikefie
Former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has reportedly passed away at the age of 82. His family allegedly announced in a statement earlier today that he died in a clinic in London. The announcement, attributed to his spokesperaon Garba Dhe, read:
“The family of former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”
This statement was reported by Premium Times and the Channels Television.
Following weeks of intensive medical care abroad, Buhari’s condition had reportedly deteriorated, prompting extended hospitalisation in London since April 2025. Multiple reputable sources, including Premium Times, PM News Nigeria, and Channels Television, confirmed that what began as a routine checkup evolved into serious treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Health Journey & Medical History
* Buhari travelled to the UK for annual medical checks in April 2025. According to Premium Times, he “became ill there, but…is responding well to treatment” at the time. SaharaReporters confirmed back then.
* His 2025 UK stay revived public scrutiny over his frequent foreign medical trips during his presidency (2015 – 2023)
Notably:
* Feburary & June 2016 (ear infection)
* Multiple trips in 2021 and 2022 – all to London Premium Times Nigeria
* Critics linked these visits to concerns about transparency and the state of Nigeria’s healthcare and labelled his prolonged absences with nicknames like “Baba Go Slow.” Reuters reported.
Legacy and Leadership
Buhari served as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, having previously ruled as a military head of state (1983-1985). He made history as the first opposition leader to unseat a sitting president when he defeated former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 election. His administration promised a strong anti-corruption drive but apparently failed to nail the coffin of corruption. He also promised to curb insecurity, but grappled with not only widespread but persistent violent killings and insecurity spreading across the country-including Boko Haram, ISWAP, herdsmen, and bandits; having only plagued the North-East during the Jonathan administration.
The economy, which was the third leg of Buhari’s administration, also wasn’t as Nigeria experienced economic recession twice within his 8 years rule. This was exacerbated by his government clash with the Niger Delta over the attempted cancellation of important projects and programmes like the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Presidential Amnesty Programme, among others. His deployment of the Nigerian Army to arrest High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, who was declared wanted by the EFCC, that led to attacks on oil installations in retaliation from the self-styled Niger Delta Avengers. This meltdown forced his government to rely heavily on foreign and local borrowing and earning him seriously criticism.
As of press time, the Nigerian government and the Buhari’s family are yet to release full funeral arrangements or detailed cause of death, as the nation awaits such statements soon, suffice to say that Buhari being a Muslim devote may likely be buried within 24 hours of his last breath.
Our thoughts are with his family.

Breaking: Omo-Agege, Ogboru Joins ADC Coalition Ahead of 2027 Elections

By Oghale Emu
As momentum builds towards the 2027 general elections, the political atmosphere is heating up with reports that former Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege has allegedly dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition.
TJ News reported earlier that discussions regarding Agege’s switch are at an advanced stage, with multiple insider sources confirming that his formal declaration could happen in a matter of days. His expected defection is poised to add significant political weight to the ADC-led alliance, which is fast emerging as a formidable opposition bloc determined to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling APC at the poles.
The ADC-led coalition, determined to build a broad-based political front, has recently stepped up its nationwide constitutions. It has held a series of strategic, behind-the-scene meetings with influential stakeholders, civil society leaders, and prominent politicians disillusioned with the current political order.
In a related development, IduwiniVoice reliably gathered that Delta’s longest standing Governorship Candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, has cemented negotiations to join the coalition. Our source very close to the prominent political figure, who pleaded anonymity, hinted that his political principal has briefed him and other followers of the development. With the top two political gladiators allegedly joining the ADC, 2027 elections promises to be very interesting in Delta state.
IduwiniVoice can authoritatively confirm that the coalition’s game plan is to consolidate efforts from smaller opposition parties and key political figures in a bid to present a credible and united challenge to the APC in 2027.
