By Favour Bibaikefie
In a significant political breakthrough, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has successfully mediated a peace accord amongst the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The high-stake reconciliation meeting, held behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marks the end of a two-year political impasse that had threatened governance and stability in one of Nigeria’s key oil-producing states.
Reliable sources revealed that President Tinubu appealed to all stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of the people of Rivers State and shelve their political differences. The outcome is seen as a pivotal point in what had become one of the country’s most turbulent intra-party disputes.
Observers have described the move as both timely and strategic, coming amid heightened extended tensions and uncertainty over the future of the state’s leadership dynamics. The President’s intervention is widely being hailed as a deft show of statesmanship aimed at preserving national cohesion and political order.
While details of the agreement remain under wra, insiders suggests that all parties agreed to together in the interest of peace, progress, and good governance.
This resolution not only signals a new chapter for Rivers State but also reaffirms the central government’s commitment to fostering unity and dialogue amongst the Rivers political class.
