Wizkid Smashes Spotify Nigeria Record With ‘Piece of My Heart’

Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has set a new Spotify record with his latest hit, “Piece of My Heart,” amassing 1.01 million streams on its first day— the highest for any song in Spotify Nigeria’s history.
The Grammy-winning artist dropped the much-anticipated track over the weekend, featuring American singer-songwriter Brent Faiyaz. According to Turntable Charts on X (formerly Twitter), the song achieved the 1.01 million milestone on its release day, outpacing previous records.
Turntable Charts wrote: “‘Piece of My Heart’ featuring Brent Faiyaz racked up 1.01 million streams on its first day on Spotify Nigeria, setting a new record for the platform. It surpassed @asakemusik and @wizkidayo’s “MMS” (870K) and “IDK” with @Zlatan_Ibile (626K).”
This marks another career milestone for Wizkid, who had previously tied with Asake for the record with their collaborative track “MMS” from Asake’s Lungu Boy album.
With its R&B-influenced sound and mellow tempo, “Piece of My Heart” now becomes the first African song to surpass 1 million streams on Spotify within 24 hours of its release.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the soulful single, released on Friday, serves as the lead track from Wizkid’s forthcoming album Morayo, set to debut on November 22.
“Piece of My Heart” is a captivating blend of Wizkid’s Afrobeats rhythms and Brent Faiyaz’s smooth R&B vocals. Produced by P2J and Dpat, the track’s heartfelt lyrics speak of unwavering love and devotion. Faiyaz’s emotional chorus, “Nothing can tear us apart, you’ve got a piece of my heart,” is perfectly complemented by Wizkid’s distinctive vocal delivery, adding depth to the song’s message.
The collaboration has already sparked excitement among fans, and “Piece of My Heart” sets a promising tone for Wizkid’s upcoming Morayo album.

Bishop Oyedepo has announced that 32 transformers will be used to power the Ark when it comes on stream after it’s November dedication. According to him, during the second service yesterday, 4th May 2025 at the Faith Tabernacle, this will be required because of the large power requirement at the new building. The Ark will have 129 elevators, travelators and escalators which will move worshippers including elderly people and in other cases, challenged folks who require healing up and down the 4 floor, 109,000 capacity bowl as well as the 5,000 capacity youth church and 20,000 seat children’s church. Additionally, the staff will operate between the 12 twin tower mission headquarters and use of the staircase may not always be practicable.
Canaanland already had a 15MW Power plant installed in 2016 but this will be inadequate for power needs of the Ark. The Dome will also draw 1MW of solar energy to the facility while the roof is designed to gather rain 🌧 water to aid in flushing the 1,200 restrooms by gravity.
The transformers located at the new power plant required to power plant is much bigger than the present plant.
It is believed to be already under construction and would be finished in time for the dedication of the Ark.
The new Megawatt power plant reported to be 80MW will help to supply electricity to the whole of Canaanland including The Ark, Covenant University, Canaan City and possibly some parts of Ota.
According to Bishop Oyedepo, Canaanland has never experienced a complete electricity blackout since 1999 contrary to the norm in Nigeria.
