IYC Iduwini Delta Chapter Commends Ijaw Youths for Peaceful Zonal Congress

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone Elective Congress recently concluded in Odimodi town, Iduwini Kingdom, Delta State, marking a notable success coloured in flamboyant peace and unity. The Iduwini Delta Structure of the IYC expressed deep gratitude to all kingdoms within the Western Zone for their steadfast support, contributing significantly to the event’s success.

This was contained in a statement sent to IduwiniVoice Newspaper by Comrade Oyas David Ingbesekumo Chairman of the IYC Iduwini Clan Chapter, who emphasized that the overwhelming backing from various kingdoms and stakeholders was crucial to the Congress’s accomplishments. He also extended special thanks to the delegates and members from all kingdoms for endorsing an Odimodi native as the new Women’s Leader of the Western Zone.

Comrade Oyas acknowledged the attendance and contributions of key IYC figures, including National President Comrade Jonathan Lukpobri, Deputy National President Comrade Freedom Atigbi, Speaker of the IYC Mobile Parliament Comrade Bob Collins Igetei, and National Spokesman Comrade Princewill Yerin Binebai, Oweikeye Endoro,among others. Their involvement was instrumental in ensuring the Congress’s success.

He further commended the Zonal Electoral Committee led by Comrade Emmanuel Gesikeme Akpule for their outstanding performance. Special recognition was also accorded the community bodies like the Odimodi Chiefs Council, Odimodi Elders Council, and Tantita Security Services for their crucial support in maintaining peace and hospitality during the event.

The Elective Congress, held on June 4-5, 2024, in Odimodi Town, was celebrated as a significant milestone for the IYC Western Zone.

In a statement released today, the forum stressed the importance of maintaining peace and decorum during the electoral process, urging youth to prioritize the development and progress of the Ijaw nation at all times.

“We appeal to our youth to eschew violence and embrace peaceful conduct during the election. Let us work together to build a brighter future for our nation,” the statement read in part. Odimodi Town in Iduwini Kingdom, Delta State, is set to host the upcoming Zonal Elections of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), scheduled for June 4th to 5th, 2024. The leadership of Odimodi has assured their readiness to accommodate and cater to the influx of Ijaw youths and other attendees during the programme.

Chairman Comrade Solomon Gbegha, Chairman of Odimodi Community extended a warm welcome to all ZECO members, candidates, delegates, and the general public, wishing them safe travels and a pleasant stay in what he proudly called Odimodi “The Land of Peace and Hospitality.”

Gbegha also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order during the event. He strongly cautioned against engaging in societal vices such as fighting, carrying of weapons, and using illicit drugs like “Monkey Tail,” “Weed (Igbo),” “Codine,” and “Ex-Kay.” These activities, he warned, are strictly prohibited in Odimodi Town.

To ensure a smooth and secure event, Gbegha assured that comprehensive arrangements have been made for security, accommodation, and the overall welfare of attendees. “The community and youth leaderships have collaborated to provide a safe and hospitable environment for all participants.” Gbegha told IduwiniVoice correspondent.

In a statement, Chapter Chairman Comrade Oyas David Ingbisekumor extended his greetings and best wishes to all ZECO members, candidates, delegates, and the general public participating in the event. Comrade Oyas emphasized the importance of safety and harmony throughout the electoral process.
