“I am writing this note of appreciation to express my deepest gratitude to God Almighty for the guidance and blessings He has bestowed upon me during my time as Chairman of Burutu Local Government. Your divine intervention has been instrumental in ensuring the peace and progress of my administration.

“To His Excellency, Rt.Hon.(Elder)Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, I extend my sincere appreciation for your unwavering support and guidance. Being the first Council Chairman in your Administration; your leadership has been a source of inspiration and motivation for me as Chairman; I am eternally grateful sir.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my boss former Chairman of council and now the Honourable Commissioner for Housing Delta State Hon.Godknows Angele whom God used as a platform for my elevation to council Chairman.

“To my family; most especially my dear wife Barr.(Mrs)Sarah Smooth Ikisa and my lovely children thank you so very much for your unwavering support and understanding throughout my tenure. Your love and encouragement have been the pillar that have kept me going during time of service to our people.

“To the good people of Burutu Local Government Area, most especially the host community of our great Local Government (Burutu Community); thank you for your trust and confidence in my leadership. Your continuous support and cooperation have been vital in driving positive change and development in our local government. Together, we have worked tirelessly to foster peace and unity within our local government.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the leaders of the Business Community for their collaboration and contributions towards the growth of our local economy. Your entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the welfare of our people are truly commendable.

“To my supporters, I am deeply grateful for your unwavering loyalty and dedication. Your belief in my vision and your tireless efforts to ensure its realization have not gone unnoticed. Your support has been the driving force behind our greatest achievements in these few months.

“I would also like to acknowledge the Councilors led by Rt.Hon.Spencer Takeme for their cordial working relationship and cooperation. Your commitment to serving our great local government has been invaluable, and together, we have been able to make significant strides in improving the lives of our people.

“I would like to express my profound gratitude to the party leadership ably led by Hon. Ebike Oromoni for the trust and confidence reposed in me; I am most grateful.Your support have been instrumental in boosting my ability to effectively serve the people of Burutu Local Government Area.

As the tenure of all Delta LGAs draws to a close, the Burutu Local Government Council Boss, Double Chief. Combolous Ikisa, led a special and robust meeting with his councillors and appointees. The meeting, which served as an opportunity to review their time working together afforded Mr. Chairman to convey the deep appreciation of Burutu people to the Lawmakers, for their commitment to the welfare and development of the LGA., and the smooth running of the tenure.

Also in attendance were the distinguished Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Spencer Takeme, and the dedicated Supervisors for Works, Finance, Education, and Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. (Prince) Sunday E. Perekeme. This assembly of key figures underscored the robust collaboration and teamwork the Ikisa-led government of the LGA enjoyed from Executive and Legislative arms of government.

In what the Media Team of the Council Boss termed “Finishing Strong,” they expressed strong believe that Chief Ikisa who took over the reigns of power from his Boss, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele, continued strategic projects and programs handed over with dedication and astute commitment.

DSHA Passes Bill Renaming Delta State Polytechnic, Burutu To Include Maritime.

Following the bill to rename the Delta State Polytechnic, Burutu, sent to the Delta State House of Assembly by His Excellency ,Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Wednesday for official consideration and possible approbation,the House, at its plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor on Thursday, gave the bill its speedy assent on the floor of the House.

After the first reading of the bill at Thursday’s session of the Assembly, the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, called for the suspension of some rules and protocols of the House to enhance deliberations on the bill and it eventual passage into law.

Leading debate on the importance of the bill, the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Festus Okoh said that the bill only seeks to add Maritime to the existing name of the Polytechnic and align the institution with the yearnings of the stakeholders. Amidst emphasizing the harmlessness of the new development, Hon. Okoh commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for listening to the aspirations of the people.

The bill also won the legislative consent of other lawmakers, including Hon. Ebitomo Anthony Alapala (of Burutu Constituency 1),Hon. Pereotu Oloye ( Burutu 2) Hon. Oboro Preyor (Bomadi), Charles Emetulu (Ndokwa West), and Ferguson Onwo (Isoko South).The Legislators trained light on the importance and significance of the bill, affirming that inserting the word “Maritime” is in agreement with the original intent of establishing the Polytechnic as a specialized institution.

Motion for the third reading and subsequent passage of the bill was moved on the floor of the House by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Festus Okoh and overwhelmingly adopted by the House following a voice-vote declared by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor.

Commending the lawmakers for their commitment to the passage of the bill, the Speaker, said that with the passage of the bill, the institution’s nomenclature has changed to include Maritime in its initial name.

While thanking the Governor for this remarkable stride, Hon. Guwor further said that the state legislature will not cease to work and collaborate with other arms of government to ensure the reign of peace, good governance and development in all parts of the state.

With the passage of the bill, and when assented by the Governor , Delta State Polytechnic,Burutu would be renamed: Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu.
