THE DIVINE MANDATE OF CHIEF (DR) GODSPOWER TOMONE

I was a teenager when I got to know Chief Godspower Tomone in Ogulagha Town in the late 1990s. In my adolescent mental diary he is captured as a churchman and as a generous person. He used to give me and my siblings money, even during Christmas days. It’s now over two decades, yet he remains the nice and liberal individual I knew him to be then.

I’m giving this moral support to the candidacy of Apostle Tomone because I’m convinced and certain that he is the right person to pilot the ship of Burutu Local Government to the promised land. There is a Joshua-the-Son-of-Nun in Chief Godspower Tomone.

Greatness does not germinate from barren soil.Certain manures made the soil fruitful for this Political Apostle. There are many virtues that this man has that I would like us to see, but for fear of taking much of your time, I will limit them to six in this piece .These prolific virtues are the reasons we can entrust him with the number one position of our Local Government.

COMPETENCE: No man rises without being Competent in his work. That Ambassador Godspower is a name to be reckoned with in Burutu LGA is a testimony that he has been Competent in carrying out his tasks and assignment. As a politician, he has been doing well for his ward. When he was made ward 11 PDP chairman, he delivered for Hon. Julius Pondi and others in his constituency.This is one of the qualities he is bringing to the table as chairman of our dear local government.

CHARACTER: This is one of the greatest traits we should look out for in those who seek to govern and lead us.Even after attaining great success and honour as Apostle in the house of God, Chief of chiefs in Ogulagha kingdom, Business Mogul, Political Aficionado in our clime and a Patriot of the Nigerdelta, Dr Tomone remains accessible, kind, loving, meek and accommodating. Such men are rare. And we should value and always support their noble pursuits.

VALUE: This man is an asset to Ijaw Nation. He is a blessing to his constituency. To his credits, many hands have been equipped with vocational skills through his NGO, the jobless have been employed in Ogulagha, the weak have became strengthened in Youbebe and the hopeless have been hopeful in communities across the creeks. Such a man should not be denied the opportunity to make bigger impacts in our constituency.

TRUSTWORTHY:This is another remarkable virtue that makes for success in any endeavor. By being trustworthy he was ordained an Apostle, by being trustworthy he was inducted into the hall of Chiefs, by being trustworthy he won contracts to impact humanity and got many business deals, and by being trustworthy he was elected and appointed into various political positions. Such a man should be given the opportunity to further ignite the lamps of our communities.

VISION: Chief Godspower is in this race for power because of the noble vision and aspirations he has for his people. He has seen what can be positively possible with Burutu Local Government if he sits as its chairman. He saw that if his people would become better and greater, he needs to be in a position to man the affairs of the local government. He is out there in the political ring because of the vision he has for the constituency. Let’s reciprocate this love he has for us by voting for him in the forthcoming election.

Now, let’s look at some of the things Chief Godspower Tomone will do if elected Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

EDUCATION: Certainly, Chief Godspower knows that the educational structure of the constituency is decaying. He knows that the schools lack enough and qualified teachers; he knows that students are losing interest and faith in the transformative power of education. He knows that some brilliant students need scholarships to continue their education. Chief Tomone is aware of these defects and more , and he is ready to fix it.

HEALTH: He knows that health is wealth; he knows that the existing health facilities need qualified doctors and need to be medically well-equipped, and he is aware that new health centers need to be erected across the LGA. He knows that the people should be given free healthcare services from time to time. He knows these needs and much more that need to be put in place, and he is out to fix these issues.

ROAD NETWORK: That we need good, concrete and motorable roads in all our communities is not hidden from the patriotism of Chief Tomone. While he is committed to fixing roads in our towns, villages and hamlets, he has a vision to lobby and get the government and multinational oil companies to connect most of the kingdoms and constituency with motorable roads and bridges. Know for sure that, the likes of Dr Tomone are the ones to make sure that the government, NDDC, DESOPADEC and the multinationals partner to construct roads that would connect our kingdoms to Warri .

YOUTH: Through his NGO he has been empowering youths around the local government with jobs and employable skills, and this he will do in a larger scale if elected. To get the youths productive, we can trust Chief Godspower Tomone to sponsor sporting activities within the Local Government Area with the aim of identifying, sponsoring and promoting sporting talents in swimming ,wrestling,football, table tennis among others.

WOMEN: He acknowledges the fact that women have been significant in the development of the society; he is aware that behind the success of any political leadership, is the invaluable contributions of women, hence gender equality should be expected if this Apostle of Human Capital Development is elected into power. Dr Tomone will make sure they are appointed into key positions within his administration.

SEAPORT: If elected into the number one office of the Local Government, Chief Tomone will use his office, influence and connections to make sure the government and relevant agencies give practical attention to the proposed multi-purpose deep seaport at Burutu, knowing fully well that the establishment of the seaport would supercharge economic and industrial activities and generate employment opportunities in the constituency and Delta State as a whole. This is how visionary Apostle Tomone could be.

SKILL ACQUISITION CENTRES:In collaboration with relevant agencies and organizations, in his administration we can look forward to having skill acquisition centres built across the local government area, where our people will be trained in various fields of human endeavors,such as fashion design, welding and fabrication, make-up artistry, electrical engineering,website design, graphic design, and empower beneficiaries with starter packs.

If time and space were on my side, I would have talked about his vision for the aged, his plans to construct stone jetties and water projects, create employment and ensure security of lives and property, prompt payment of salary, and other priorities. But with these few facts, I hope and pray, our people will be wise enough to crown Amb.(Dr.) Godspower Tomone with the chairmanship of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
