Chief, Apostle, (Dr.) Godspower Tomone (JP) has declared his interest to run for the office of Chairman, Burutu Local Government Council.
The Ogulagha-born politician and business mogul made his intentions know when he appeared before the Ogulagha/Iduwini Ward-11 PDP Caucus last Thursday.
Fondly known as the “Governor General of PDP Ward-11” or “Godspenal International”, Tomone has been a grassroot mobilizer whose political sagacity has contributed immensely to the sustained victory of the party in Ward-11 in particular and Burutu LGA at large.
As all LGAs across Delta State gears up for the forthcoming 2024 DIESEC Local Government Elections, Burutu LGA has witnessed illustrious men and women “throw their hats in the ring” for either Chairmanship or Councilorship positions in the Local Government Area.
The seasoned Business man, who is a proud Chairman of Godspenal International Football Club, and Clergy also seized the medium to unveil his “Divine Mandate” political mantra, stressing that as a clergy, he clearly heard from God before deciding to join the race.
Apostle Tomone also presented his “3 Points Agenda” of Development which is hinged on Human Capital Management, Infrastructural development, and Security.
The acceptance was loud, as a mammoth crowd of elders, women, and youths where seen in the entourage of Dr. Tomone.
In his words; “there’s no better time than now. God has clearly instructed me not to seek for any other appointments but contest for the Chairmanship position because, He has an assignment that I must carry out. Adding that Burutu people need not look any further, as the right man for the job of Chairmanship is here.
Tomone who has declared to run for Burutu Chairmanship for three times believes he is the most prepared candidate to take Burutu Local Government Area to an enviable height, if given the opportunity to serve his people.

In an eagerly anticipated event, Burutu Local Government Council is set to host the official inauguration of its Legislative Arm and the ceremonial handover to the Executive Chairman by the Head of Personnel Management (HPM). The significant event, taking place on Thursday, 18th July, 2024, will be held at the Burutu Local Government Council Secretariat in Burutu.
The announcement was made by Emmanuel Gesikeme Akpule, who conveyed the directive from Hon. (Chief) Julius Takeme, Chairman of the Burutu Local Government Council. The event will begin at 10 AM and is expected to draw the attention of both residents and officials, marking a pivotal moment in the local governance of Burutu.
Residents and indigenes of Burutu Local Government Area are especially encouraged to attend and witness the formal proceedings. This occasion underscores the community’s commitment to robust local governance and civic engagement.

As the tenure of all Delta LGAs draws to a close, the Burutu Local Government Council Boss, Double Chief. Combolous Ikisa, led a special and robust meeting with his councillors and appointees. The meeting, which served as an opportunity to review their time working together afforded Mr. Chairman to convey the deep appreciation of Burutu people to the Lawmakers, for their commitment to the welfare and development of the LGA., and the smooth running of the tenure.
Also in attendance were the distinguished Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Spencer Takeme, and the dedicated Supervisors for Works, Finance, Education, and Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. (Prince) Sunday E. Perekeme. This assembly of key figures underscored the robust collaboration and teamwork the Ikisa-led government of the LGA enjoyed from Executive and Legislative arms of government.
In what the Media Team of the Council Boss termed “Finishing Strong,” they expressed strong believe that Chief Ikisa who took over the reigns of power from his Boss, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele, continued strategic projects and programs handed over with dedication and astute commitment.
