Embrace Authenticity: Break Free from Toxic Positivity – Lady Ejiro Umukoro (Lady E.) tutors.

In a world that often champions the pursuit of happiness, Lady E Ejiro Umukoro sheds light on a phenomenon called toxic positivity. This mindset, driven by an unwavering commitment to maintaining a facade of perpetual positivity, may, in fact, be doing more harm than good.

In her words, “A quick one, in case you’ve also been wondering about it. There’s something known as toxic positivity”.

Toxic positivity is the art of suppressing genuine emotions like anger or sadness in the relentless pursuit of 100% positive thinking. Lady Umukoro rightly points out the blindspot in this approach — the unintended consequence of allowing negative emotions to fester and grow stronger over time, adding that Psychologists advocate for a different path, encouraging individuals to embrace their emotions without judgment.

“It is a situation, a state of mind, mindset, or behaviour in which you deny and suppress emotions like anger or sadness in pursuit of 100% positive thinking. Here’s the blindspot of toxic positivity: over time, this approach can backfire, causing the negative emotions to grow stronger. Instead of denying those negative emotions, psychologists recommend allowing yourself to _feel them without judgment_” Ejiro explained.

The key, Lady Umukoro suggests, lies in mindfulness. Taking accountability for our thoughts, habits, actions, and behaviors fosters a more genuine connection with ourselves. Being intentional, she emphasizes, involves staying on target and actively shaping the outcomes we desire through deliberate practice, actions, habits, thoughts, and language.

“Mindfulness is very important to take accountability for your thoughts, habits, actions, and behaviours.

“Being intentional means staying on target and pursuing the outcomes you seek with deliberate practice, actions, habits, thoughts, and language that manifests the favourable outcome(s) you seek.” she admonished.

As we embark on a new week, Lady Umukoro’s wisdom resonates: manifest your greatness but not at the expense of authenticity. Her call to never allow anyone or anything to dim our light serves as a reminder that acknowledging and navigating our true emotions is essential for both mental wellness and career development.

“Go Manifest your Greatness! Never allow anyone or anything deem your Light!

In a society flooded with hashtags and quick fixes, the media expert’s message stands as a beacon of intentional living and deliberate practice. As we toast to outstanding successes, both small and large, let us also celebrate the lessons that propel us forward on our journey of growth and advancement.

In a world where YOLO (You Only Live Once) has become a mantra, Lady Umukoro’s parting words echo loudly: Make it matter, and may our pursuit of mental wellness and intentional living guide us toward a more authentic and fulfilling existence.
